Rogers City man Arrested for Possession and Distribution of Child Sexually Abusive Material

ROGERS CITY, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is announcing the arrest of Matthew Lloyd Gapczynski, 41 of Rogers City, for possession and distribution of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.

The investigation began when a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). A search of Gapczynski’s home netted evidence including multiple internet capable devices.

Gapczynski was charged with one count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material - involving more than 100 images of child sexually abusive material, three counts of child sexually abusive activity - distributing or promoting, one count of using a computer to commit a crime, and four counts of possession of child sexually abusive material. Gapczynski was arraigned in 89th Judicial District Court on Thursday July 14.

The MSP ICAC Task Force was assisted by the MSP Gaylord Post, MSP Alpena Post, MSP Canine Team, and the Seventh District Fugitive Team.
