Montmorency County Resident Arrested for Aggravated Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material

ATLANTA, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is announcing the arrest of Jason Scott Smith, 41 of Atlanta, for possession of child sexually abusive materials and using a computer to commit a crime.
Smith was arrested following an investigation which began when a cyber tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
As a result of the investigation, several electronics were seized from the home. Smith was charged with six counts of child sexually abusive activity aggravated distributing or promoting, one count of child sexually abusive material - possession and one count of using a computer to commit a crime. Smith was arraigned in 88th District Court on Tuesday, May 4.
