Lawton Man Arrested for Aggravated Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material

LAWTON, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is announcing the arrest of Phillip Joel McAndrew, 50, of Lawton, for aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, child sexually abusive activity-distributing or promoting, and using a computer to commit a crime.
McAndrew was arrested following an investigation in which it was discovered McAndrew possessed and shared files of child sexually abusive material from a computer system at his home. Digital evidence seized from his home was examined and evidence was located implicating McAndrew’s involvement in the possession and distribution of the content.
McAndrew was charged with three counts of child sexually abusive activity- aggravated distributing or promoting, two counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material. McAndrew was arraigned in the 7th District Court on December 19.
