Kentwood Man Arrested for Child Sexually Abusive Material

KENTWOOD, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is announcing the arrest of Brian Deering, 57, of Kentwood, for aggravated child sexually abusive activity, aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, aggravated distribution/promoting of child sexually abusive material, and using a computer to commit a crime.
Deering turned himself in following an investigation in which digital evidence was seized from his residence. The investigation was initiated when it was learned that Deering was downloading, viewing, and uploading files of child sexually abusive material on the internet.
Deering was charged with one count of aggravated child sexually abusive activity, one count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, one count of distributing/promotion of child sexually abusive material, and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Deering was arraigned in the 62-B District Court on Tuesday, June 18.
If convicted, Deering faces up to 25 years in prison for the aggravated child sexually abusive activity charge, 15 years in prison for promoting/distributing child sexually abusive material, 10 years in prison for aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and 20 years in prison for using a computer to commit a crime.
