Ingham County Man Arrested for Child Sexually Abusive Material

LANSING, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is announcing the arrest of Richard John Peterson, 65 of Lansing, for aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and computer crimes – use of a computer.

The investigation stemmed from a tip forwarded to the task force. Further investigation led to a residence where the suspect was residing. A search warrant of the home netted multiple internet capable devices and evidence. An arrest warrant was issued for Peterson and he was subsequently arrested at Lansing Police Department after turning himself in on Jan. 7.

Peterson has been charged with three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and three counts of computer crimes – use of computer. If convicted, Peterson faces up to 30 years for the aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and 57 years for computer crimes – use of computer.
