Hastings Man Arrested for Criminal Sexual Conduct and Child Sexually Abusive Material

HASTINGS, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is announcing the arrest of Chad Morris, 35, of Hastings, for criminal sexual conduct, possession of child sexually abusive materials, and using a computer to commit a crime.
Morris was arrested following an investigation in which it was discovered Morris possessed and shared files of child sexually abusive material from a computer system at his home. Digital evidence seized from his home was examined and evidence was located implicating Morris’ involvement in the sexual assault of two adult victims who have since been identified.
Morris was charged with one count of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct, three counts of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, two counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and one count of capturing /distributing images of an unclothed person. Morris was arraigned in 56-B District Court on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
