Grand Blanc Resident Arrested for Possession and Distribution of Child Sexually Abusive Material and Using a Computer to Commit a Crime

GRAND BLANC, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is announcing the arrest of Ryne Edward Schafer, 33 of Grand Blanc, for possession and distribution of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.

Schafer surrendered himself to the court following an investigation in which digital evidence was seized from his home. The investigation was initiated when it was learned that Schafer accessed files of child sexually abusive material on the internet.

Following the search warrant to his residence, Schafer was charged with two counts of possession of child sexually abusive material, one count of distributing or promoting child sexually abusive material, and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Schafer was arraigned in 67th District Court on Friday, October 29.
