Ferndale Resident Arrested for Aggravated Child Sexually Abusive Activity

FERNDALE, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is announcing the arrest of Andrew Duane Johnathan Melhus, 33, of Ferndale, for aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material.
Melhus was arrested following an investigation originating from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). A search of Melhus’s residence resulted in digital evidence being seized.
Melhus was charged with 6 counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material. Melhus was arraigned in the 43rd District Court on Wednesday June 5.
If convicted, Melhus faces up to 10 years in prison for the charge of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material.
