Carp Lake man Arrested for Aggravated Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material

CARP LAKE, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is announcing the arrest of Donavan Patrick Dougherty, 33 of Carp Lake, for aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.

Dougherty was arrested following an investigation which began when a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Dougherty was charged with one count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, one count of possession of sexually abusive material and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Dougherty was arraigned in the 90th Judicial District Court on Friday June 2.

The MSP ICAC Task Force was assisted by the MSP Gaylord Post.

The MSP Computer Crimes Unit frequently investigates offenders who do not use their real names online. Because of this anonymity, news outlets should contact the Emmet County Jail or D/Tpr/Spl. Travis Kirschner to obtain a photograph of Dougherty.
