Siler gets jail time, probation in child abuse case

10/01/2019

26-year-old Jamie Siler of Coldwater entered a no-contest plea to attempted second degree child abuse in Branch County Circuit Court Monday

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A Coldwater woman was ordered to serve nine months in jail and was placed on probation for three years Monday in Branch County Circuit Court for her part in a child abuse case.

26-year-old Jamie Siler of Coldwater entered a no-contest plea to attempted second degree child abuse. In exchange for her plea, prosecutors dismissed charges of second degree child abuse and child sexually abusive activity.

Siler was given credit for 28 days served in jail. She was ordered to undergo testing and treatment as required and complete sex offender treatment.

Siler was the girlfriend of the other suspect in the case, 24-year-old Brandon Michael Biggs, at the time he was arrested.

Authorities say she did not stop Biggs from his sex crimes involving an eight year old girl, which Michigan State Police say took place over a six month period.

Biggs was ordered in August of 2018 to serve between 79 months and 10 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections after he entered no contest pleas to charges of distributing and promoting child abusive material, having child sexually abusive material, and assault with intent to commit sexual penetration.

Biggs was also ordered to register as a Michigan Sex Offender.
