Lansing Man Arrested for Aggravated Possession Of Child Sexually Abusive Material

LANSING, MICH. An investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police (MSP) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force has resulted in the arrest of a man from Lansing. Michael James-Alan Shearer, 52, was arraigned on Aug. 19, 2020 in the 54A District Court-Lansing, MI.
The arraignment came at the conclusion of an investigation into social media and the execution of multiple search warrants at different residences. After the search warrants were served, multiple internet capable devices and evidence was seized containing child sexually abusive material.
Shearer has been charged with three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material [MCL 750.145C4-A1], and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime [MCL 752.145C4B]. If convicted, Shearer faces up to twenty years for each charge of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and twenty years for each charge of using a computer to commit a crime.
