Benton Harbor Man Arrested for Child Sexually Abusive Activity

01/09/2020

BENTON HARBOR, MICH. An investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police (MSP) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force has resulted in the arrest of a man from Benton Harbor. Matthew Davidson, 36, was arrested and arraigned on Dec. 13, 2019.

The investigation stemmed from a National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) tip, which contained images of child sexually abusive material. Further investigation led to locating a residence in Benton Harbor where the suspect was residing. Following an execution of a search warrant, an arrest warrant was issued for Davidson and he subsequently turned himself in.

Davidson has been charged with child sexually abusive activity, use of a computer to commit a crime, possession of child sexually abusive material, and distribution of child sexually abusive material.

The MSP Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to speak to their children about the safe use of the Internet. There are many resources available to parents to assist in keeping children safe online. The NCMEC provides a comprehensive list of resources on their website at http://www.missingkids.org. The MSP ICAC Task Force also provides resources at https://www.michiganicac.com/.

If you have information regarding possible child sexual exploitation, report it to the CyberTipline at http://www.missingkids.org/cybertipline.
